Do you love working outdoors? Do you need to complete an internship for a golf-related degree? Interns, under the supervision of the assistant superintendent, perform and lead the grounds crew with the tasks involved in golf course maintenance; learn semi-skilled construction and maintenance work; operate small hand-powered equipment; and perform work involving large equipment such as tractors, sprayers, loaders and mowers. Each Intern may be have a project associated with their internship and will work closely with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent to ensure this is complete to the satisfaction of the intern’s respective institution.
The “must haves” for this position include:
- Enrolled in a 2 year, 4 year, or certificate program in Golf Course Management, Turf Management, Agronomy, Horticulture or closely related field.
- Physical strength, stamina and agility.
- Must have current valid driver’s license.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
We prefer that you additionally have the following skills / experience, but it is not required:
- Previous work experience in landscape or golf course maintenance capacity.
- Working knowledge of and ability to properly use hand tools, power tools and mowing equipment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivation and ability to work well with others will benefit a person in this position.
- Must possess a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
