PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE
Greet and seat customers in a restaurant and oversee food service. Manage and book nightly guest reservations.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide superior service to our customers at all times.
- Perform shift opening tasks: complete check register, set-up or count register bank, and open doors, oversee table and service station set-up.
- Greet and seat customers.
- Issue checks to servers and/or customers.
- See that special requests are filled, handle unusual problems or complaints.
- Distribute customers evenly to wait staff.
- Take reservations. Arrange for special set-ups for large parties.
- Assist with waiting on tables, bussing and bartending as needed.
- Monitor quality of service and food. Coordinate work of wait, bus, and kitchen staff.
- Carry out closing procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WORKING RELATIONSHIP
- Reports to Restaurant Manager
- Works closely with Servers, Bartender, Cooks, etc
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to bend, lift and carry heavy objects.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school education desirable, plus one to two years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
- Neat appearance and pleasant manners.
- Ability to deal with customers in a pleasant, courteous and efficient manner.
- Basic knowledge of restaurant operations.
- Basic reading, writing and math skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively with a variety of other employees, and to oversee and coordinate the work of others to a limited extent.
