The Resort Application Development (RAD) Team at Vail Resorts is seeking a Software Test Automation Intern to join our team for the 2020 summer. Working directly with two Senior Test Automation Engineers, this intern will also work closely with software developers, business analysts, and test engineers. The team uses Agile with Scrum. Working in C# and the .NET Framework, RESTful APIs, and SQL Server, the internship will involve understanding application functionality, creating automated test cases, executing automation tests, documenting and reporting on results, entering defects for uncovered issues, and presenting results to management. The intern will be developing in C# within our developer tool set; Visual Studio, MS Teams, confluence, JIRA, BitBucket, Octopus, and Bamboo.
Role Specific Skills Requirements (Major, Technical Skills/Experience, Certification, etc.):
- College student with a minimum of 2 years completed towards a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with C# and the .NET Framework.
- Experience with RESTful APIs.
- Experience with SQL Server.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Highly enthusiastic and motivated learner.
The intern will become a working part of the RAD Test Automation Team, joining two Senior Test Automation Engineers. The intern will be part of that team working on adding automated tests for capital funded and approved projects and assigned specific test automation stories for completion. The intern will have a direct impact on the team’s growing suite of automation tests. The team will receive an additional contributing team member, youthful exuberance and energy, and an opportunity to recruit and lay the foundation for a possible future employee hire. The team has a history of successfully staffing interns as well as hiring a subset for permanent employment. Finally, the interns work will contribute to the quality of the applications used at Vail Resorts in support of our mountain operations.
The intern will get an opportunity to learn and apply software developer skills for the purpose of generated automated tests. They will get experience working as part of a larger team of developers as well as business analysts, and test engineers. They will have direct access to two Senior Test Automation Engineers along with the Software Development Manager of the team. They will get to apply their skills to impact software used daily to ensure a great customer experience, in particular applications used at Vail Resorts in support of our mountain operations.
