Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthodontic Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting orthodontic procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of dental assisting practices, including infection control and patient management, while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Responsibilities
- Assist the orthodontist during various procedures, including placing and removing braces, taking impressions, and fitting appliances.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary equipment is ready for use.
- Take and develop X-rays as needed, while adhering to safety protocols.
- Utilize 3D scanning technology to capture accurate dental impressions.
- Monitor and record vital signs of patients prior to procedures.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
- Maintain accurate patient records in Eaglesoft software, ensuring all information is up-to-date and compliant with HIPAA standards.
- Support pediatric patients by creating a friendly and comfortable environment during visits.
Experience
- Previous experience in dental assisting is preferred, with a focus on orthodontics being a plus.
- Familiarity with Eaglesoft software for patient management is advantageous.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and general dentistry practices is essential.
- Experience with pediatric dentistry is beneficial for working with younger patients.
- Proficiency in taking X-rays and understanding vital signs monitoring techniques is required.
