Description
Repairs and maintains production, plant, and building equipment with a focus on high-quality preventive maintenance to meet the production plan and ship Val-Matic products in a manner which exceeds company goals for quality and on-time delivery.
Responsibilities
- Works with Lead Maintenance Mechanic, Department Managers, and Plant Supervisors to ensure priorities and schedules are met and problems are addressed.
- Observes and evaluates equipment to determine the root cause of equipment problems.
- Conducts preventive maintenance (PM) as assigned and completes the required documentation.
- Dismantles, cleans and repairs equipment or replaces components as required.
- Performs electrical installations on the building or equipment.
- Works with outside contractors as needed.
- Handles maintenance vendor contracts, requests quotes and contractor services and initiates purchase requisitions for materials and services.
- Manages the physical disposal of waste.
- Equally shares the workload with other Maintenance Mechanics to ensure machine downtime is minimized.
- Supports the Val-Matic Safety Program whenever required and alerts the appropriate manager whenever unsafe conditions are found or potential safety improvements can be implemented.
- Actively maintains a clean and organized 6S work area.
Qualifications
- Technical training beyond a High School diploma such as trade school or certification or associate degree.
- Five years of related experience and/or training, technical certification or completion of apprentice program, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, schematics, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Proficient in shop math
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Synthesizes complex or diverse information from drawing, specifications, diagrams, or manuals.
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions.
- Prioritizes and plans work activities; Uses time efficiently; Plans for additional resources; Organizes or schedules other people and their tasks; Develops realistic action plans.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical equipment
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to be on feet up to 8-12 hours per shift
- Use of hands and fingers to perform job function
- Ability to stoop, kneel, bend and climb
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
