Summary
The Quality Inspector will verify that material and products that material and products are supplied, manufactured, and tested in accordance with Val-Matic drawings, procedures, and standards. To conduct inspections and calibrations in accordance with the Company Quality Management System.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for inspection of incoming materials and parts including dimensions, material, finishes, and general quality.
- Assist machinists in complex part inspections involving specialized equipment.
- Maintain the factory calibration records and conduct calibrations of designated factory inspection equipment and pressure gauges inspections.
- Escort customer and outside agency inspectors through the plant and generate testing records and certificates.
- Participates in quarterly internal QA Audits as directed by the QA Manger.
- Assist in special engineering testing of new and existing products.
- Preparing assigned testing procedures and work instructions to document activities in the QA system
- Works with certificate bodies to make sure all documentation and testing requirements are met and documented on the company network.
- Investigate problems with materials or parts and resolve quality issues with vendors.
- Maintains good housekeeping and clean work areas in assigned space.
- Develop and maintain reporting systems for calibration systems and inspections.
- Performs all assignments in accordance with safety specifications, instructions, and requirements.
- Responsible for safety and quality throughout production
- Responsible for notifying a Production Lead or Supervisor when they step off the line to ensure safety and quality standards are maintained.
- Reports all production waste/issues to Production Lead or Supervisor
- Performs other duties as required by Supervisor or Manager
- Follows all company policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Associate College Degree in Industrial Technology or equivalent.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements and principles.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including casting, turning, milling, facing, and assembly.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Understand plant safety guidelines and pass all required safety training.
- Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions.
- Troubleshoot problems and report issues.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to be on feet up to 8-12 hours per shift
- Use of hands and fingers to perform job function
- Ability to stoop, kneel, bend and climb
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
