What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outside Sales Representative position at Valbruna Group?
Founded in 1925 and a leader in the production of Stainless Steels, Nickel Alloys and Titanium Long products, Valbruna is a private company with 2,500 employees and an annual output of approx. 250,000 tons of specialty steels. Production is primarily focused on Stainless Steels and Specialty Alloys, available in blooms and billets, ingots, round, square, flat, hexagonal and angle bars, wire rod, wire, reinforcement bars and threaded rods, with the expressed goal of satisfying the most sophisticated needs of the customer. To that end, Valbruna is constantly updating its production capabilities and experience.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develops new business opportunities with current and prospective customers within assigned territory.
- Develops and maintains direct contact with customer technical staff for the purpose of identifying new products and coordinating service assistance where needed.
- Introduces a complete line of Valbruna products to customers in assigned markets.
- Arranges for plant trials for products and assists in special trials.
- Works in coordination with the Valbruna Quality and Technical Team to develop and implement correction action if material issues arise
- Gathers market intelligence on customers, products, prices, applications, competitors, industry data and new business opportunities.
- Develops territory plans, sales objectives and strategies for assigned products and as part of overall group objectives.
- Develops call planning to maximize efficiency of territory manager program.
- Participates in the preparation of sales plans, sales budgets, and forecasts.
- Maintains up to date customer and territory information. Prepares reports regularly on customer activities and market analysis.
- Works with Inside Sales team to mentor and help them understand the requirements of the customer.
- Occasionally travels with Inside Sales Representatives to introduce to customer.
- Some Travel will include coordinated visits with Market Managers, Branch Manager or other sales representatives within the region for purposes of customer introduction or assistance of business growth
- Regular visits to the office to work with the inside team.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills. Able to effectively engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization; as well as the ability to negotiate with suppliers.
- Ability to analyze complex information and make sound decisions.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail are both critical for this position. Will be expected to complete assignments and tasks with both thoroughness and accuracy.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and deal effectively with conflicting priorities.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
- Ability to complete job responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- Ability to function effectively in a fast paced and, at times, stressful environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
- 5 years of sales experience required.
- Metal industry experience preferred.
- 60% travel in sales region is required.
