JOB SUMMARY
Using engineering drawings, assembly/test procedures, and/or other instructions, this position combines the skills of welding sub-assemblies using various welding equipment and techniques, setting up and machining operations using various manual and CNC machining equipment, and assembling/testing/fitting sub-assembly parts using various manufacturing assembly equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Welding
- Tig and weld mild steel and stainless steel in NADCAP qualified facility.
- With minimal supervision, capable to square up and weld various geometries of components.
- Basic understanding of various weld form symbols on engineering drawings and understand size of fillet forms.
- Experience with both vertical and horizontal plane geometry, tack welding, and semi-automated autogenous fusion welding.
- Basic knowledge of various edge preps before welding.
- Understanding of basic set up techniques.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform all welding operations as required by assembly procedure, drawing, or other written instructions.
Machining
- Must be able to make basic set-ups and operate available machine tools.
- Must be able to determine operational sequences, proper jigs, fixtures, and tools to be used.
- Must be able to use all machinist’s hand tools and measuring instruments.
- Must be familiar with the machining of most materials.
- Must be able to use advanced shop mathematics, including trigonometry.
Assembly
- Must be able to work from engineering drawings, schematics, work orders, and/or verbal instructions.
- Uses standard hand tools, such as screwdrivers and adjustable wrenches, and standard measuring equipment.
- Set-up hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical test equipment, test gauges, voltmeters and amp meters, multimeters, etc.
- Tests to engineering test procedures and records data on test reports.
- Performs assembly, sub-assembly, and final assembly of various products.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent education
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Will be trained for AWS welding certification or equivalent. Internal qualification and certifications tests will be given to meet customer and industrial requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Ability to operate standard and specialized equipment to produce prototype and/or production parts.
- Ability to perform standard shop computations, using technical math, geometry, and trigonometry,
- In-depth knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances in both standard and metric systems.
- Candidate must have “Team”-like mentality and be willing to work with a group.
EQUIPMENT/MACHINARY USED
- Proficient use of manual and CNC lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
- Proficient use of various production equipment including hydraulic presses, bead blaster, drill press, manual grinder, etc.
- Ability to work with various measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.
- Ability to work with various electronic equipment including power supplies, multimeters, test gauges, etc.
- Familiar with DC TIG welding equipment. Ability to weld milled steel and stainless steel. Operate 4.5-inch and 7-inch angle grinder, manual vertical band saw, pedestal grinder, and various clamps and fixtures.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Moderate physical activity.
- Lifting up to 50lbs regularly, pushing, pulling, standing for long periods of time, manual dexterity, visual acuity, and typing.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Manufacturing environment; may be exposed to loud noises, changing temperatures, machinery with moving parts, and exotic materials.
