To drive operational excellence across the Florida region. The Director of Operations will ensure that field services are operating at peak performance safety, productivity, work quality, and customer service. They will drive process improvements across the region to improve our ability to scale the business while delivering high quality project work. They will oversee project estimating and production processes across the region to ensure projects are scoped and delivered profitably, efficiently and on-time.

Key Roles & Responsibilities Below are the key roles and responsibilities that the Director of Operations will be expected to manage and lead at a high level.

  • Leadership and Strategy Support the profitable growth of the region as a key member of the leadership team.
    • Work closely with the Regional Vice President and Regional Sales Manager to develop a growth strategy for the Florida market and broader Southeast region.
    • Lead operations capacity planning and operations organization development for the Southeast region.
    • Ensure the general positive and effective morale and culture of the operations department.
    • Ensure all system, process, and general best practices are in place as required by the company.
    • Complete monthly operations leadership meetings that addresses key operations team management and leadership matters for resolution, improvement, expansion of recognized successes of the team in order to further the outcome, as well as to implement new key initiatives and assurance of best practice adoption by the team.
    • Identify and manage operational key performance indicators to oversee team performance
    • Develop and coach talent within the team for the operational aspect of the region
  • Project Management Ensure projects are delivered on-time and on-budget with the highest quality
    • Oversee regional operations managers and project managers to develop and implement best practices for project management.
    • Refine production tracking and ensure clear visibility into project progress.
    • Identify improvement areas to increase throughput and quality of work.
    • Lead regular work-in-progress meetings to track project financial and operational progress versus budget and determine any necessary corrective action.
    • Ensure project estimating best practices are in place across the region.
    • Manage subcontractor procurement and performance management.
  • Process Improvement
    • Develop and manage training programs for operational roles including onboarding for key roles (Project Managers, Superintendents).
    • Identify process changes to increase throughput and project quality.
    • Support the implementation of new systems (ERP, project management) and ensure technology is in place to support project delivery.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement operational process improvements.
  • Ability to identify operational issues/inefficiencies, develop and implement initiatives to correct them
  • Experience managing construction project delivery including systematic tracking of labor production.
  • Experience working with labor, and capable of overseeing an internal workforce of technicians, a subcontractor base, and project management professionals.
  • Ability to conduct project financial reviews and determine appropriate corrective action to improvement performance.
  • Experience developing or overseeing project estimation.
  • Familiarity with subcontracting and subcontractor management best practices.
  • Ability to work closely with sales management and branch leadership to build growth plans.
  • Experience successfully implementing a safety plan and overall safety program.
