What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Superintendent/Project Manager position at Valcourt Group Company?
The Superintendent is responsible for directing and coordinating the daily operations of the Field projects. This includes developing efficiency strategies to ensure the projects meet production goals and standards at minimal costs. The Superintendent works directly with department heads/leads to coordinate purchasing, production, and distribution of Manpower. Duties include instituting policies and procedures, training supervisors and administrators, maintaining a production schedule, giving performance reviews and motivating staff to meet their goals. The Superintendent is also responsible for upholding a safe work environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate the implementation of a standard job schedule on all projects assigned, review completion dates and percentages with all field personnel and interact with Project Superintendents, Consultants, and Architects.
- Monitor the quality of work performed by all Subcontractors and in house forces.
- Interpret and clarify all construction documents when necessary between field personnel and appropriate consultants.
- Monitor the coordination and scheduling of materials, lead times, and deliveries with field personnel and vendors.
- Review plans with consultants and implement changes and revisions as necessary.
- Provide support and motivation for all field personnel to attain company goals and requirements.
- Contract negotiation with subcontractor and vendors.
- Support, monitor, and instruct Field Personnel in compliance with all local governing agencies and building codes, to assure proper and timely inspections and requirements needed for completion and turnover of all projects.
- Interact with Client and Client’s representatives to assure completion and a clean turnover of projects on dates forecast.
- Attend all weekly jobsite meetings and update construction schedules as necessary.
- Insure timely completion of all assigned projects within approved budget guidelines.
- Review and prepare budgets and schedules and modify accordingly prior to input.
- Monitor budget compliance and budget deviation as well as schedule
- Attend to administrative aspects as required.
- Provide support at critical levels as needed.
- Contribute cost and technical data to design consultants.
- Clear all regulatory “red tape” with all federal, state and local authorities involved in respective projects.
- Provide technical support for on-site problem solving or necessary construction changes.
- Provide accurate accounting of construction expenses and projected profit/loss experience through computerized job costing reports.
- Monitor the accounting departments problem list and follow up with project team as appropriate to insure the prompt resolution of unresolved issues.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Extensive experience and knowledge of all disciplines.
- Communication skills strong enough to develop, maintain, and expand cooperative attitudes with all related personnel.
- Ability to organize and train all field personnel.
- Update labor and material costs in each area of project implementation.
