What are the responsibilities and job description for the Architectural Designer position at Valdes Architecture & Engineering?
The Architectural Designer is responsible for supporting the architectural design and documentation of a variety of building projects for government, higher education and industrial clients. Project types include new buildings or renovation of existing buildings/spaces including municipal buildings (public works, vehicle maintenance, fire stations, police stations/shooting ranges) laboratories, offices and research & production spaces. Responsibilities for this position include project coordination, planning documents, contract documents and specifications. Desirable skills include an understanding of space planning & design for municipal projects, science & technology facilities design (laboratory & research space), and higher education projects (classrooms, laboratories). This position provides technical leadership in the architectural discipline and through state-of-the-art technology such as Building Information Modeling (Revit) and other visualization tools such as Sketch-Up, Rhino 3D, 3DS Max, etc.
Technical Competencies/Responsibilities
2-4 years’ experience providing architectural construction document production and participation in construction administration as part of a professional architecture/engineering firm.
Able to generate design documentation and construction documents utilizing 3D software (Revit, Sketchup, others)
Able to generate presentation quality images and graphics for conceptual/final project designs.
Exposure to, and some experience with, applicable codes and standards (City of Chicago, IBC, ADA, etc.)
Assists with development of architecture design, helps with specification generation and produces drawings to define the architectural scope of projects.
Able to assist in the coordination of design team disciplines to achieve fully coordinated project.
Participates in specialized investigations such as existing conditions verification, assists in preparation of construction cost estimates and assists in comparisons of building system alternatives.
May assist in generation of graphics/images in support of client proposals, SOQ’s, and presentations for business development activities.
Qualifications
Architecture degree from an accredited US Architectural Program
Proficiency in Revit and relevant rendering programs
Working toward licensure as an architect in the state of Illinois.
Exposure to and/or experience government/higher education clients
LEED AP Accreditation is a plus
Must possess exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
Eligibility to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future
Salary : $70,000 - $100,000
