Valdosta Veterinary Associates is a 24/7/365 state-of-the-art emergency veterinary hospital located in sunny Valdosta, Georgia. We currently see a large percentage of emergency and sick care but also have routine, non-urgent, and referral appointments on weekdays. Our current focus is small animal medicine.
Valdosta Veterinary Associates was founded by native Jillian Courson, DVM. We are currently seeking to add a veterinary receptionist. If you have a huge appetite for learning and growing and you are an excellent team player, VVA might be the team for you!

Responsibilities
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance. Yours is the first face our client sees!
- Greet and welcome clients and patients in a warm, personable, and professional manner
- Obtain and verify thorough and accurate patient and client information at each encounter
- Schedule appointments based on client needs and patient symptoms with properly spelled documentation
- Check clients in and out with a smile
- Answer and screen phone calls
- Relay messages to and from veterinary support staff when indicated
- Collect deposits and payment up front for all services
- Provide clients with a breakdown of costs on printed invoices and estimates
- Collect deposits at client's vehicle for possible isolation cases, following isolation protocol
- Escort clients and patients to exam rooms when available after checking in
- Inform veterinary support staff when a client and patient have been roomed
- Inform veterinary support staff when an emergency is on its way
- Contact clients with balances to collect payment over the phone
- Collect veterinary insurance information when indicated
- Balance cash drawer daily
- Maintain office cleanliness and organization of resources. Cleaning will be a big part of this position as receptionists are responsible for cleaning the lobby, exam rooms, breakroom, and bathrooms.
- Send and obtain veterinary records to other veterinary facilities
- Enter vaccine reminders from outside veterinary records
- Verify patient vaccination and test history criteria for boarding
- Prepare cage cards and paper collars for boarders and hospitalized patients
- Inform staff when boarders need services while boarding
- Inform kennel technicians when boarders have finished checking in
- Prepare and obtain signatures for client consents and patient forms
- Provide printed educational materials to clients as needed
- Provide tentative cost estimates to clients over the phone
- Provide clients with information regarding our products and services
- Maintain calm and compassionate demeanor with clients who may be afraid, grieving, or angry
- All other tasks as assigned by managers and owners
REQUIREMENTS
- Open availability 6am to 10pm, 7 days a week, including holidays, outside of class/primary work schedules.
- High School Diploma or equivalent. Will consider high school students with dual college enrollment for pre-vet program.
