Valence Surface Technologies is a full-service surface finishing company specializing in the commercial aerospace, defense, space and satellite industries. With ten strategically located sites across the United States, Valence provides a start to finish solution from NDT and chemical processing, to paint and sub-assembly.
Summary:
Responsible for the daily functions of the HR department for the respective site(s) and operates as a partner to the business. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas under the guidance of the human resources leader: employee support and services, benefits administration, employee relations and investigations, training, timekeeping and payroll verification, employee engagement and communications, performance management, talent acquisition, onboarding, policy implementation, and employment law compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with site leadership and human resources team to administer various human resource plans, procedures, initiatives and ensure communication and execution is consistent across all sites.
- Engage with employees to understand their needs and concerns and provide / offer appropriate solutions that aligns to company practices.
- Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and non-exempt site positions.
- Develop and monitor programs to promote positive employee relations and employee engagement.
- Handles all employee relations and investigations with support of human resources leader and partner with supervisors to address disciplinary matters.
- Performs benefit administration, such as open enrollment and communicates all benefit information to employees.
- Generate reports, conduct analysis, and provide input for decision-making for projects or initiatives.
- Maintains human resources information systems records and compiles reports from database as needed.
- Maintains compliance with all federal and state regulations concerning employment, such as meal period and rest breaks, timekeeping, recordkeeping, leave and disability management, workers compensation claims, etc.
- Handles all on-boarding of new employees and works with supervisors for a continuous positive employee experience.
- Responsible for timely and accurate review of timekeeping records for payroll processing.
- Maintains personnel files and ensures all legal requirements are met.
- Collaborate with EH&S on employee safety and wellbeing initiatives, such as, annual testing, safety boots, safety committee, etc.
- Travel to other sites / regions based on business need.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Human Resources.
- Strong understanding of labor laws and employment equity regulations.
- Proficient in using HRIS software.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
- Capable of making decisions and solving problems as the arise.
- Bilingual - Proficiency in speaking both English and Spanish preferred.
