Job Summary: The senior electrical engineer will be involved in the development and implementation of the next generation products for Valencia Technologies while supporting the current generation for a successful ramp to manufacturing.
Responsibilities/Tasks: As Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Determining feasibility of a design concept through part selection, prototyping and initial design fabrication of the PCBA, board bring up (debug as necessary) and characterization to determine the suitability of the concept.
- Risk assessment of the proposed design and mitigation of residual risk via design or process controls. Ability to perform dFMEA analysis independently on design modules and systems.
- Gather user-needs to understand the suitability of the design and make necessary changes to reflect in system or subsystem level requirements.
- Create architectural documents to record the design process - selection of parts and their suitability to the design, operating principles of the design, optimization of parameters (if any) and related selection criteria.
- Create requirements for the electrical portion of the design (such as selection of power management module, transmission protocol, etc.) to ensure design verification and/or validation has adequate coverage of all the necessary features.
- Identify and help derive qualification of replacement for end of life components.
- Perform design reviews periodically to keep the stakeholders informed and seek critical feedback to improve on the design.
Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of class III implantable neuromodulation device design process. Prior design experience is a definite plus.
- Knowledge of communication fundamentals for HF/UHF/RF is a must.
- Prior experience of designing coils and working principles of coils (quality factor, matching) for tuning to achieve the highest fidelity of communication is greatly desired.
- Thorough understanding of op-amps and mixed-signal electronics (ADCs, DACs, current source, etc.)
- Experience in selecting microprocessors for new designs based on system level requirements and estimating memory required for code base, GPIO count, RESET behavior, interface controls (I2C, SPI) etc.
- Basic understanding of firmware and code development for feasibility and development
- Experience with low-power design and power management for high reliability product development.
- Experience in designing using Altium is a necessary requirement for this position.
- Familiarity with standards ISO-13485, ISO-14971, ISO-14708-1 and -3 is a must.
