Description of Job:
As the Maintenance Manager at Valent BioSciences, you will be responsible for advancing strategic and tactical maintenance, wastewater and controls solutions to maintain, correct, and improve plant operations. The Maintenance Manager will provide leadership and development of maintenance best practices and standards, as well as conformance with site safety, environmental, and quality programs.

Description of Job:
As the Maintenance Manager at Valent BioSciences, you will be responsible for advancing strategic and tactical maintenance, wastewater and controls solutions to maintain, correct, and improve plant operations. The Maintenance Manager will provide leadership and development of maintenance best practices and standards, as well as conformance with site safety, environmental, and quality programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure equipment is operational and functionally acceptable to meet the needs of manufacturing, utilities and wastewater.
- Manage the on-going maintenance, and controls review, problem solving, and troubleshooting of plant and wastewater systems and equipment.
- Oversee the operation of the Central Utilities Building and proactively identify opportunities for unit operation optimization and cost reduction.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality programs and procedures.
- Troubleshoots complex utility systems which may include Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), steam boiler, electronic control systems, refrigeration, electrical, compressed air and gases, water treatment, and/or other utilities.
- Interprets drawings, layouts, wiring diagrams, and specifications in planning and performing maintenance and repairs. Also involved in new equipment and new plant system installations, as needed.
- Authors accurate documentation for the operation and maintenance of various utility systems and supplies information and technical data for securing spare parts.
- Develop and apply advanced theories, methods and research techniques to the investigation and solution of complex technical problems.
- Collaborate across business units to develop standards.
- Ensure development of a solid equipment reliability program with appropriate preventive maintenance, calibrations, and spare parts.
- Oversee the utilization and optimization of the computerized maintenance management system.
- Ensure development and implementation of the mechanical integrity program.
- Enforce utilization of Pre Start-up Safety Review process.
- Oversee implementation and maintenance of IT and controls solutions that support day to day operations, as well as facilitate data retrieval for process troubleshooting and improvement.
- Reviews vendor information and coordinates vendor activities related equipment installation, operation, and maintenance.
- Interfaces with other operating units with and outside the department.
- B.S. in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
- Demonstrated competence and progressive technical experience.
- 10 years related experience with at least 7 years leadership experience.
- Requires excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to be applied.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact with all levels of management.
