- Oversees health, safety, process safety, environmental, and fuels compliance assessment professionals.
- Selects and manages consultants engaged in audits and assessments.
- Reports HSE Excellence Assessment and Audit results and corrective action status to senior management.
- Establishes HSE Excellence Assessment and Audit schedules.
- Maintains assessment and audit tools, policies, procedures, protocols and reference materials.
- Coordinates training for company-employed HSE Excellence Assessors and Auditors.
- Coordinates, directs and participates in HSE Excellence compliance and management system audits.
- Supervises ad-hoc assessment and audit teams comprising of Valero subject matter experts and/or 3rd-party auditors.
- Leads opening and closing conferences with refinery and facility leadership teams.
- Coaches, mentors, and trains assessors, site champions, and refinery personnel .
- Reviews observations and findings against relevant expectations, and revise as needed for quality, accuracy, and consistency with expectations.
- Evaluates corrective action plans for suitability, relevance against expectations and driving performance improvement. Negotiates changes with site Leadership.
- Reports assessment and audit results and corrective actions clearly and accurately.
- Tracks corrective actions and Gap Closure Plan progress to completion.
- This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

- Engineering degree required.
- 15 years of experience in the refining or petrochemical sector required.
