Description
Performs a variety of HR duties and functions, and assists employees with questions and issues related to a broad array of HR-related issues.
Resolves or refers employee questions or problems related to any aspect of the Human Resource Department responsibilities to the appropriate party for handling.
Participates in aptitude testing, interviewing, and culling of Operator and Craft candidates, including distributing notice letters for testing, interviews, and rejection.
Posts notices of Job Opportunities for internal vacancies.
Arranges newspaper advertising for open positions, arranges for help from temporary employees as needed, and recruits for salaried nonexempt vacancies.
Inputs data in HR System, including applicant tracking.
Maintains and updates HR records, files, and HRMS system.
Maintains and updates job descriptions and Seniority List, and maintains records on accessions and terminations.
Alternates with other HR personnel in attending out-of-town Industrial Relations Group Meetings and preparing company reports, including weighted averages analyses and attendance percentages.
Prepares survey responses on salary, work practices, benefits, safety shoe/clothing provisions, job responsibility comparisons, etc. from other companies.
Maintains, monitors, and enters data for all hourly employee absence records.
Coordinates pay issues with Payroll.
Initiates, maintains, and updates a log on each employee out on long-term leave.
Completes processing of all duties involved in employment, termination, transfer, and promotion of all hourly personnel.
Coordinates arrangements for company functions (Christmas party, picnic, after-work functions) within budgeted limits.
Assists with special projects and functions of the department, such as open enrollment.
Numbers, prepares, and completes processing of all Personnel Activity Requests.
Prepares and distributes annual Vacation Schedules for both hourly and salaried employees.
Maintains tickler files and processes paperwork for hourly progression increases.
Produces and distributes accident injury and supplemental reports for Workers Compensation, submits related bills to carrier for payment, and coordinates needs, care, services, etc. for lost time injury employees with carrier.
Gives benefits plans overviews to interviewees.
Coordinates pay off-sets due to Workers Compensation payments with Payroll.
Assists injured employees with Workers Comp-related problems.
Prepares Personnel Announcements for refinery.
Prepares responses to EEOC charges, assists in charge process, and completes annual EEO-1 Report.
Prepares annual Affirmative Action Plan, maintains EEO book, and prepares Vets-100 Report.
Prepares and distributes Weekly Headcount and Hourly Employees Monthly Reports.
Responds in writing to unemployment claims, provides employment verifications, and completes mortgage application forms.
Issues employee/contractor badges, hanging parking passes, and parking stickers as needed.
Opens and distributes files and handles all mail/bills/check requests for department bi-monthly.
Assists with revising organization charts, and drafting and proofreading articles for newsletters.
Performs departmental clerical duties such as preparing bulletins, e-mail notices, employment offer and decline letters, etc.
This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required.
8 years of professional-level Human Resources experience required.
Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Human Resources, Business, or related area preferred.
PHR certification preferred.
Experience with SAP preferred.
Experience working in a refinery HR environment preferred.
Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero Houston Refinery, required.
Salary : $66,000 - $107,000
