This position requires incumbent to train in the safe handling of hazardous materials which includes, USCG, DOT, EPA, and OSHA regulations and to implemented before and during all transfers. Performs duties as outlined by the Terminal Manger related to the receipt and shipment of petroleum products via pipeline, dock, and truck. The Individual must learn to manage multiple tasks and recognize abnormal operating conditions and respond within Valero’s guidelines. Strict adherence to Valero’s HSE policies must be applied at all times.

- Completes required HSE, DOT, USCG, and OSHA training for new hires.
- Exercises good judgment.
- Is a self-starter and adapts changing conditions.
- Inspects terminal and pipeline equipment to ensure integrity.
- Learns how to use the terminal automation system to complete daily inventory and rack activity reports.
- Learns how to monitoring volumes, making product switches, and insuring maximum and minimum volumes are not exceeded.
- Reviews valve line-ups with operations counterparts.
- Starts and stops pumps.
- Makes grade switches, monitors for interfaces, and makes valve lineup changes.
- Becomes familiar with Valero portal to enter daily shift reports.
- Ensures proper measurement techniques are being followed.
- Learns how to gauge, sample and analyze product as instructed by Terminal Manger.
- Reads meters, catching samples and performing various lab test as necessary.
- Learns terminal SCADA screens to operate the terminal or pipeline.
- Unloads gasoline additive shipments as required.
- Develops good working relationships with all company personnel, customers, and contract personnel.
- Coordinates sampling times with our customers.
- Answers miscellaneous radio and phone calls.
- Monitors gate activity, and facility security.
- Assists maintenance and operations with various duties.
- Performs housekeeping duties.
- Mows tank farms and associated property.
- Ensures company vehicles and equipment are properly maintained.
- Learns start up and shut down procedures for vapor recovery systems.
- Develops a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and SAP.

- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1 years experience in terminal operations preferred.
- Ability to work overtime with little or no notice during the week, weekends, holidays, etc. as dictated by operations required.
- Ability to work in outdoor environment, which could include extreme heat and/or extreme cold required.
