Overview
VALIANT Construction LLC is seeking an experienced Project Engineer (PE) to support the successful execution of U.S. Federal Government Healthcare Construction Projects ranging from $10M to $50M. This role requires a detail-oriented and proactive professional with a strong background in construction engineering, project coordination, and technical documentation. The ideal candidate will assist in project planning, submittals, RFIs, scheduling and quality control to ensure compliance with contract specifications, safety standards, and industry best practices. The PE will work closely with the project team to maintain project efficiency and drive project success.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Coordination & Technical Support
- Assist in the development, tracking, and execution of project schedules, ensuring alignment with federal contract requirements and specifications.
- Support the Project Manager and Superintendent in reviewing submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings to maintain project accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely procurement, delivery, and installation of materials per project specifications.
- Maintain and update project documentation, including as-built drawings, submittal logs, RFI logs, and change order requests, ensuring proper tracking for compliance and final government submittals.
- Assist in tracking project costs, labor productivity, and material usage to support project financial performance and reporting
- Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all work meets federal construction standards, project-specific quality control requirements, and contract specifications.
- Assist in conducting and documenting inspections, testing, and commissioning in accordance with government regulations and industry best practices.
- Support the Superintendent and Quality Control Manager (QCM) in implementing quality assurance processes and corrective action measures when necessary.
- Verify that all subcontractors comply with project specifications, safety standards, and security requirements.
- Safety & Security
- Assist in enforcing EM 385-1-1, OSHA regulations, and project-specific safety plans to maintain a safe job site.
- Support the development of Accident Prevention Plans (APPs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA), and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
- Ensure compliance with federal security requirements, including background checks, badging, and restricted access protocols.
- Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and site safety audits to reinforce a strong safety culture.
- Reporting & Communication
- Review daily project reports, work progress logs, and site photos in Procore for accurate documentation and government compliance.
- Assist in the preparation of pay applications, certified payroll, and compliance reports related to Davis-Bacon wage requirements.
- Communicate regularly with the Project Manager, Superintendent, Government Representatives, and Subcontractors to resolve technical challenges and ensure seamless project execution.
- Provide work-in-place tracking, progress updates, and reporting support for invoicing and closeout documentation.
- Project Closeout & Final Deliverables
- Assist in compiling and managing project punch lists, final inspections, and contract closeout requirements.
- Support the preparation of operation and maintenance (O&M) manuals, final submittals, and as-built documentation for government handover.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager and Government Officials to verify contract compliance and ensure timely close out of all contractual obligations.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineer, or related field
- Zero (0) to three (3) years of experience in construction project coordination or engineering role; internship or co-op experience in federal or commercial construction preferred
- Familiarity with construction documents, project scheduling, RFIs, submittals, and quality control process
