Overview
The Project Engineer (PE) will transition into two roles, a Field Engineer and Office Engineer. The Project (field) Engineer will be responsible for assisting the Superintendent and QA/QC Superintendent with all field document controls, along with any quality concerns. The Project (field) Engineer will work in the field for a minimum of 6 to 12 months before transitioning to the second part of the role, a Project (Office) Engineer, serving as an assistant project manager in training.
Responsibilities
- Field Document Controls
- Submittal Constructability Review
- Assist Superintendents with project layout and jobsite related duties
- Review and understand all contract requirements
- Assist in developing schedules when needed
- Monitor, maintain, and update schedules with help from Superintendents
- Schedule and attend meetings
- Prepare and maintain submittal logs
- Assist PMs with the development of SOVs
- Close communication between Superintendents and Project Team
- Attend, prepare, and distribute field meeting notes
- Create and maintain RFI logs
- Assist in maintain “As-Built Plans & Specifications”
- Contract modifications
- Solicit detailed, itemized Trade Partner Change Proposal Estimates
- Prepare Valiant Change Proposal Estimates and Change Proposals per Owner’s RFP’s, for review with PM
- Issue and rack all subcontract change order, P.O modifications, as well as Prime Contract modifications
- Final inspection/ substantial completion
- Submit request to owner
- Create and distribute punch list
- Verify punch list completion with Superintendent
- Project team support – resources and materials
- Administration of subcontracts, punch orders, RFIs – maintenance of logs
- Review subcontractor / vendor payment application
- Assist PM in managing the project closeout process and close-out document requirements
- Perform other administrative, financial and clerical duties as necessary to support the project

Required Education and Experience
- 4-year degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Previous experience in construction management or other related fields

- Frequently required to stand, walk, or sit
- Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
- Continually required to talk / listen
- Continually utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard
- Occasionally required to lift/push/carry items less than 25 pounds
