Cyber Security Analyst

Position Description

Valiant Solutions is seeking a Cyber Security Analyst in the Norfolk, VA area to join our rapidly growing and innovative cybersecurity team!

The Cyber Security Analyst plays a crucial role in ensuring the security and compliance of the customer’s IT systems. This position is responsible for supporting the Risk Management Framework (RMF) by supporting senior staff with packages. The Cyber Security Analyst will participate in the Assessment and Authorization (A&A) efforts, collaborate with various teams to integrate security best practices, and continuously monitor security controls. This role requires a strong understanding of NIST 800 series guidelines, FIPS standards, and experience with RMF artifacts and processes. The ideal candidate has Navy RMF A&A support experience including prior work with Validators and knowledge of RMF artifacts, experience evaluating STIGs, ACAS scans, and vulnerabilities.

This position allows for hybrid work in Norfolk, VA. Remote work necessitates a high-level trust in our employees and we strictly adhere to the details found below in our Remote Work Policy. 

 Job Responsibilities

• Support RMF compliance for all IT systems within scope.
• Support the A&A lifecycle, including documentation, testing, and authorization.
• Conduct security assessments, identify vulnerabilities, and track remediation efforts.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate secure coding practices and application security requirements.
• Create and update security hardening standards for new and existing technologies.
• Perform continuous monitoring of security controls and assess the impact of system changes.
• Facilitate the IT Risk Acceptance process.
• Evaluate STIGs, ACAS scans, and other security reports.
• Mitigate security control deficiencies and vulnerabilities.
• Maintain and update Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) in eMASS.
• Report to the Team Lead and provide regular updates on RMF activities.

Required Experience

• Experience supporting Navy RMF A&A processes.
• Familiarity with RMF artifacts and documentation.
• Hands-on experience with security tools and technologies, including STIGs and ACAS.
• Knowledge of NIST 800 series guidelines and FIPS standards.
• Ability to evaluate and mitigate security vulnerabilities.
• Experience working with Validators and supporting senior staff with RMF packages.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

The salary range for this position is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. It has been benchmarked in relation to the scope of the role, market rate, and internal equity. The salary for this role is expected to be in the $105,000 - $117,000 range. Where a candidate falls within the band can be determined based on one or more of the following: skillset, experience level, achievements, education, geographic location, security clearance, involvement in corporate tasks, and other non-discriminatory factors. In addition to the base salary, this role will include benefits as described above.  Valiant reserves the right to adjust the salary range, experience requirements, and position responsibilities at any time without prior notice.
