Project Manager Laboratory Projects
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Project Manager for Laboratory Projects to lead the successful planning, execution, and delivery of laboratory initiatives within our biotech organization. This role is critical to managing projects such as laboratory build-outs, renovations, equipment procurement and validation, and process improvements. The ideal candidate will ensure that all laboratory projects meet organizational goals, budgets, timelines, and regulatory standards, while fostering cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Management and Planning:
Oversee all aspects of laboratory projects, including scoping, design, budgeting, and execution.
Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets.
Ensure deliverables are met on time and within scope, while addressing any changes or challenges effectively.
2. Stakeholder Collaboration:
Collaborate with R&D teams, Quality Assurance, Facilities, Procurement, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives align with company goals.
Act as the primary liaison between internal teams, external contractors, and vendors, ensuring smooth communication and alignment.
3. Laboratory Infrastructure Development:
Lead projects for new laboratory construction, renovations, expansions, and relocations.
Manage the installation, qualification, and validation of laboratory equipment and systems in compliance with industry regulations.
Coordinate the setup of laboratory workflows, utilities, and infrastructure.
4. Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure laboratory projects comply with applicable standards such as GLP, GMP, FDA, OSHA, and ISO.
Identify and mitigate potential risks related to safety, regulatory compliance, and operational performance.
5. Budget and Resource Management:
Manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and accountability.
Allocate resources efficiently, balancing priorities across multiple projects.
6. Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
Track project progress, monitor milestones, and adjust plans as needed.
Provide regular updates to senior leadership, including detailed project reports and dashboards.
Evaluate project success against KPIs and recommend improvements for future initiatives.
7. Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities to optimize laboratory operations, processes, and workflows.
Stay up to date with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices to enhance project outcomes.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors degree in life sciences, engineering, chemistry, or a related field.
Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or Ph.D.) preferred.
Experience:
5 years of project management experience in laboratory settings within the biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry.
Demonstrated success managing complex laboratory projects, including construction, relocations, or equipment implementation.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of laboratory operations, infrastructure, and compliance requirements (e.g., GLP, GMP).
Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Asana).
Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Certifications (Preferred):
PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent.
