ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF STUDENT NUTRITION SERVICES AND WAREHOUSE

DeSCRIPTION OF POSITION:
Under the direction of the Director of Student Nutrition Services and Warehouse or Designee, provide supervision and support to the Student Nutrition Services, and Warehouse programs.
Representative Duties:
- Supervise and monitor the daily operations of the Student Nutrition Services Department and the District’s Warehouse operations. E
- Supervise and monitor site operations of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs, the After School Snack and Supper Programs, and the Summer Feeding Program and ensure compliance with all federal and state program regulations. E
- Supervise and monitor Student Nutrition Services and Warehouse staff. E
- Prepare, review and audit all extra time, overtime, out of classification, and monthly reports of attendance for all department staff members. E
- Prepare and submit regular Direct Certification reports to identify students who are categorically eligible to receive free meal eligibility status. E
- Provide support in the development of staff work tasks, meal production schedules, driver’s routes, and department procedures.
- Ensure staff compliance of food safety and sanitation guidelines and regulations. E
- Evaluate and provide recommendations to facility needs at all sites relative to food services staffing, equipment, maintenance and repair. E
- Work with other management and staff in the Division to improve efficiency and effectiveness of Division operations, programs and services. E
- Work collaboratively with other Divisions and departments to meet district goals and ensure alignment of programs and services. E
- Direct and coordinate other special projects and duties as assigned. E
- Perform related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate’s degree, or equivalent educational experience, with academic major or concentration in food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business or a related field; and at least two years of relevant school nutrition program or related food service management experience.
LICENSES:
- Valid California driver’s license.

- Local, state and federal laws pertaining to public school food service programs.
- Fundamentals of nutrition, food service safety and sanitation and quantity food service preparation.
- Food service equipment / kitchen layout.
- Recordkeeping and report preparation.
- Principles and practices of providing work direction and guidance to others.
- Principles and practices of management, supervision and training.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
ABILITY TO:
- Analyze complex problems and develop effective and efficient alternative solutions.
- Prepare accurate records and reports.
- Supervise, train and evaluate the performance of department staff.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Read, interpret, apply and explain standards, rules, regulations, policies and procedures. .
- Operate computer and related software systems.
