JOB DESCRIPTION
INDUCTION SUPPORT PROVIDER:
Title: Induction Support Provider Reports To: Coordinator, Teacher Induction
Department: Student Support Services Work Year: 1-2 Days per week per school year
Classification: Certificated Salary: Yearly Stipend; $3,000 per Teacher
Date Approved: February 2023
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
Under the supervision of the Teacher Induction Program Coordinator, provide program activities, which assist beginning teachers enrolled in the Teacher Induction Program.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Participate in one Support Provider Forum per month and additional professional development trainings scheduled for support providers (3-4 days per year). E1
- Provide each teacher being supported an average of one hour a week of individualized support/mentoring.
- Develop a trusting and reflective professional partnership with and provide weekly, on-site support to participating teachers during the school day. E
- Meet with veteran support providers two times per month for ongoing support during the school day. E
- Spend time when possible with each participating teacher before school starts to assist with classroom setup and planning. E
- Monitor and support a caseload of up to eight teachers in their progress towards a clear credential.
- Collaboratively develop the Individual Learning Plan (ILP) of each teacher being supported.
- Assist each teacher in developing and maintaining documentation of formative assessment and professional development activities to be used as evidence of the teacher's professional growth and program completion. E
- Arrange for each teacher being supported to observe in a veteran teacher's classroom. E
- Provide release time for veteran teacher observations by substituting for each participating teacher one day per year. E
- Attend two after-school seminars per school year. E
- Other related duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid California Elementary or Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- State-adopted academic content, standards, and performance levels for students, state-adopted curriculum frameworks, and the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP).
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Willingness to participate in professional training to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to be an effective support provider, including regular meetings with a veteran Support Provider (two times per month).
- Willingness to work with participating teachers to share instructional ideas and materials
- Engage in formative assessment processes, including non-evaluative, reflective conversations about formative assessment evidence.
- Willingness to deepen understanding of cultural, ethnic, cognitive, linguistic, and gender diversity. Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to personal professional growth and learning.
- Willingness and ability to be an excellent professional role model.
