Valley Auctions is currently in search of employees to assist with presenting items for auction on our two online bidding platforms.
Summary: Responsible for researching and developing accurate descriptions of anything you might find in a household (jewelry, pottery, kitchenware, collectibles, art/sculpture, coins, furniture and much more) for upcoming online auction catalogs. Should be knowledgeable of the value of items and/or able to do the research.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: *
- Create catalog descriptions of items for upcoming auctions
- Research to gather basic factual information to describe items
- Use available tools to create quick and accurate catalogue descriptions of items
- Process incoming consignments accurately and efficiently, including:
- Unpacking large bins of items
- Inspecting items for condition or quality
- Assisting in grouping like items together
- Keeping items organized and labeled correctly
- Item photography in our cataloging apps
- Must be able to bend, push, carry, and lift boxes of items up to 50 pounds (with the assistance of another, if necessary)

Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Able to learn and adapt to new technology
- Experience with Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, and Mac).
- Preferred: Familiarity with antiques, art, jewelry, decorative home items, collectibles, and auction industry.
- eCommerce/eBay/Etsy/Shopify experience helpful
Skills & Abilities:
- Extreme attention to detail
- Excellent writing and/or cataloging skills
- Strong research skills in a high-production environment
- An inquisitive, research-oriented mind
- The ability to take direction and work in a fast-paced, team-focused environment.
- Must be able to focus on repetitive tasks for periods of time.
Additional Information:
Compensation:
- Hourly rate: $15-$18/hour to begin depending on experience level with potential for increases
- Part-time to full time position with flexible hours
- Paid training
- Limited paid holidays
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 40 per week
