JOB TITLE : Teller / New Accounts Representative - Eureka

REPORTS TO : Robert Haidle

DEPARTMENT : New Accounts

Purpose :

Serves customers by completing account transactions and serves customers by completing account openings including Deposit, Savings, Certificate of Deposits. Provides account services to customers by receiving deposits and loan payments, cashing checks, issuing savings withdrawals, and recording night and mail deposits. Sells cashier's checks, traveler's checks, and series e bonds.

Essential Duties :

Accept deposits, withdrawals, telephone transfers and cash checks.

Scan Teller Work daily.

Close Checking and Savings accounts.

Process Cashiers Checks and Money Orders for customers.

Accept Commercial, Escrow, Installment and Real Estate loan payments.

Redeem Savings Bonds.

Sell and accept Canadian Currency and figure exchange rates.

File Currency Transaction Reports (CTR).

Balance Teller drawer daily.

Opening Saving, Checking, Money Market, HAS / Medical Saving, IRA and Certificate of Deposit Accounts

Cross-sell and sign-up customers Overdraft Protection

Set Up Automatic Transfers

Assist customers in choosing and ordering checks

Sell Access / Gift Cards and perform Reloads

Issue Debit / Temp Cards

Process Daily Mail

Provide customer support for On-Line Banking

Process Address Changes and Return Mail

Perform Daily File Maintenance

POSITION REQUIREMENTS :

Education High School diploma or equivalent (GED)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

Prior teller and / or account representative experience a plus

This position requires someone who is a self-motivator and can work with little or no supervision.

Interpersonal communication skills are required as the person filling this position will be working closely with the employees in the teller department, the other bank employees and bank officers and, at one time or another, every bank customer.

The person in this position must be able to remain calm in crisis situations and not become irritable with employees or customers.

Self-motivation, good grooming habits and dress, initiative and a friendly personality are required as this department gives the overall impression a majority of our customers receive of the bank.

Willingness and ability to learn and learn quickly.

The ability to say NO and to stand behind bank policy

Attention to detail, accuracy and fundamentals of banking are required.

Must be able to treat all customers as equals regardless of their monetary value.

Must be able to treat all employees in a fair and equitable manner.

Bookkeeping skills and the ability to perform these tasks with accuracy are required.

This position requires the ability to generate new ideas and adapt to changing products and internal procedures.

Since banking is Service Oriented, this position requires excellent customer relation skills.

This person must be willing to spend longer hours when needed.

COMPUTER SKILLS / EQUIPMENT USED :

  • General office equipment (computer, printer, fax, copy machine), scanner, adding machine, calculator.

Computer knowledge in a Windows environment.

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.

Working knowledge of 10 Key, typewriter, personal computer and teller machine.

  • May be required to lift, carry or move and position items weighing up to 25 lbs. as necessary.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Requires daily work on a computer for 6 hours or more viewing the screen and fingering the keys.
  • Ability to move about the branch to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment.
