Who are we?
We are a preschool, a daycare, a summer care center, and an after-school care facility. We are a team of roughly 6-8 girls at one time who supervise children ages 2-12. We have a daily schedule, which differs in the summer as it does during school slightly. When we have preschool (if it’s not summertime, a holiday party, or a snow day for the big kids) the daycare opens at 7, breakfast is at 8:30, class runs from 9-10:45, the kids play in the gym until 11:30 when they have lunch, then nap is at noon. During lunch the teachers and assistant teachers complete our chores after we serve the kids food. Chores include cleaning the girls’ bathroom, cleaning the boys’ bathroom, supervising the kids on the rug while they watch television as they finish eating, changing diapers and cleaning the diaper room, and sweeping/ mopping the gymnasium. We rotate these chores daily and weekly depending upon our schedules, which vary weekly.
What will you gain?
· You will gain a Pediatric CPR certification if you do not already have one.
· You will gain a food handler’s card if you do not already have one.
· You will gain WV Star experience in childcare, and you will get paid hourly for each class you take.
· You will gain a sense of teamwork and collaboration that you do not typically receive at jobs with large quantities of employees.
What do we need from you?
· Patience: The children can get upset, cry, throw tantrums, and they ask a lot of us at times. We need someone who can exhibit patience with the children and be able to explain that it’s okay for them to feel emotions, but how they should respond differently and why. There are many different types of instances like this that you will learn to work through and with as you grow here.
· Hard-working: We don’t have a large quantity of employees, so you must be willing to put in the work that needs done. If you notice something, take care of it. We are also not “just” teachers, we have to keep the facility clean and collaborate in order to keep the children occupied and entertained.
· Reliability: We need an employee who can provide transportation for themselves and ensure they arrive at work, we are a ratio-based team and need employees to be on-site.
