What are the responsibilities and job description for the Emergency Department Registrar - Emergency Registration - Per diem position at Valley Children's Healthcare?
Under general supervision, performs routine duties as an ED registrar, actively engaged in a variety of work related to the registration and/or reimbursement process for patients/family who present to the Emergency Department. Greets and enter the patient into the computer database. Selecting the correct medical record number and banding the patient. Interviews patients or their representative at the patients bedside to collect required registration data, and enters patient information into the computer database. Obtains required signatures, scans consents, print labels, directs or escorts patients to appropriate departments, performs related duties such as filing reports, answering telephones, updating computer records, scan insurance cards, collect ED copays, deductibles and other duties as assigned. The ED Registrar is accountable to the ED Registrar Lead for job assignment, station, and schedule. Utilizes ED Lead as resource for more complex and/or technical questions and concerns.

EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of one year office or customer service experience required.
- One year medical office experience providing customer service, or in a healthcare environment such as a physician practice or hospital setting preferred.
- Bilingual skills desirable.
- Knowledge of EMR systems such as Epic, as well as related systems such as Experian and MyChart is desirable.
- Familiarity with Microsoft products such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Excelling communication skills, interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and a desire to provide exceptional customer service.
EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma as accredited by the US Department of Education or GED required
