Valley Christian Elementary School is seeking a full-time counselor. The candidate must demonstrate a mature commitment to Christ and have a passion for elementary aged students. An ideal candidate would be equipped to work with students one-on-one, in small groups, and in the classroom. Further, the ability to partner with parents to pursue a path of wellness is key.
At VCES, our students come to school with a wide array of abilities, interests, and backgrounds. It is the job of our faculty to engage each individual student and develop a relationship that not only supports learning, but provides mentorship and wisdom as they mature.
Position Profile
The preferred candidate will:
- Embody empathy for a diverse range of students and families
- Excel at written and verbal communication
- Have experience counseling students and families toward psycho-emotional wellness
- Be prepared to teach social-emotional classroom lessons to TK - 6th grade students
- Work as an essential team member with teachers and staff to provide development, guidance and care for the whole student
- Seek collaboration with faculty and administration to build campus community and classroom culture
- Recommend assessment and evaluation for students that demonstrate areas of social/emotional/behavioral struggle
- Participate in the process of creating and administering 504 plan accommodations
- Provide psycho-educational instruction and support to teachers and parents

- Salary Range: $37.50 - $45.00 per hour based on education and experience

Qualifications
- An advanced/master’s degree in a related field of study is required (e.g. counseling, social work, LMFT, LPC, LCSW, PPS, etc.)
- Applicants must profess and practice faith in Jesus Christ and be active members of a local Protestant church community.
Salary : $38 - $45
