Peer Support Specialist
SIGNING BONUS $1500
Position Summary
Functions as a member of the Model of Care site-based teams and is responsible for mentoring consumers in finding and living their journey to health and wellness.
Essential Job Functions
- Engage consumers in a professional and open manner
- Facilitate weekly wellness recovery action plan (WRAP) groups
- Facilitate weekly recovery groups
- Facilitate weekly support groups
- Provide resources. (I.e. Schools, Benefits, etc.)
- Follow up on no-shows
- Follow up phone calls for periodic check-in
- Sharing personal stories of successful employment and recovery
- Working with individual in developing confidence and hope
- Educating individual on the importance of going back to work
- Provide all services with respect for cultural diversity and in the least intrusive way
- Interact with on-site healthcare providers to ensure solid partnership and quality client care
- Attend and participate in multi-disciplinary meetings as necessary
- Attend agency and program training to meet required annual standards for WAC and professional affiliations
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED and continuing education in mental health field
- Current Driver’s License and Automotive Insurance
- Pass required State background checks
- Proof of Registration as a counselor with the State of Washington
- Ability to transport clients (if necessary)
- Ability to work independently
- Be Peer Certified within 3 months of hire or be accepted into Peer training within 3 months of hire.
Desirable Requirements:
- Experience working with disabilities in a mental health setting
- Bilingual or Multi-lingual
- Cultural expertise and experience
