Summary of Essential Functions
- Provides direct, daily support to individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in both residential and community settings.
- Monitors clients’ progress toward their personal goals, giving assistance as needed.
- Maintains a thorough understanding of and assists with the implements person-centered plans.
- Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to ensure client needs are understood and served.
- Assists with household tasks as needed, such as food preparation and cleaning.
- Works with teammates to ensure a safe, healthy environment within the home.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Satisfactory completion of Direct Care Professional and Medication Administration training courses within one year of hire.
- Once hired, must maintain certification in CPR/First Aid and other required trainings.
- Must pass required pre-employment screenings, including, but not limited to, criminal history and experience verification.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Virginia driver’s license with a positive points balance or at least 0 points.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Stand, squat, sit, bend, stoop, stretch.
- Lift at least 25% of body weight.
- Assist with wheelchair transfers and push a wheelchair.
- Facilitate client transition from laying down, sitting, or other positions with or without supports.
- Work in an environment where latex or food-based allergens may be present.
- Assist with meal preparation, service, and clean-up.
- Submit to a tuberculosis screening.
