NATURE OF WORK:

The Jobs & Recovery PRSS serves as a personal guide, mentor, navigator, and role model for consumers in their recovery process, providing them with helpful recovery resources while acting as a liaison for professional, community support, and community resources. The Jobs & Hope PRSS provides outreach support and recovery check-ups in the community with individuals of substance use disorders (SUD) and their families, acting as an integral part of their recovery through all resources available.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Work actively with a minimum of 20 clients.
  • Provide mentoring through life experience to individuals experiencing substance use problems.
  • Meet face to face with the individual and identified supports and/or by secured video conference at a frequency and format requested and agreed upon by the individual. The meetings can occur in a facility or in the community.
  • Develop Recovery Wellness Plans with clients and monitor those wellness plans with them scheduled and unscheduled during meetings as identified above.
  • Link and document clients to available resources which includes, but not limited to, continuing education/professional development, safe housing, recovery supports, self-help groups, medical/health facilities, and substance abuse and/or mental health services.
  • Serve as a liaison to the client's formal and informal supports which includes, but not limited to, their referral source, family members, client's sponsor, treatment provider, and faith-based support.
  • Maintain working relationships with staff of Valley's programs and other agencies or institutions to provide awareness of recovery as a reality and the availability of the Jobs and Hope Peer Recovery Support Specialist.
  • Receive on-going supervision and training to provide Peer Recovery Support Specialist services to the highest degree and the benefit of the community and individuals served.
  • Prepare and maintain all required documentation and reports of weekly activity which includes, but is not limited to, number of contacts, method of contact, number of Recovery Wellness Plans initiated and monitored, number of referrals and outcomes, number of referrals and status of those requests, and number of agency contacts and content of those contacts.
  • Assist consumers in crisis situations involving social, emotional, health, or other problems.
  • Provide outreach and early intervention to individuals in the early onset/stage of recovery or remission as well as those experiencing symptoms of relapse.
  • Provide support by assisting consumers in identifying and resolving problems and making effective use of resources.
  • Document information as required by Valley, Medicaid, OSHA, and other licensing agencies. Employee will ensure that documentation (such as Progress Notes, Data Sheets, Timesheets, Task Analysis Forms, Behavior Tracking Forms, etc.) are completed accurately and timely and will reflect services the person served has received as appropriate.
  • Work with other professionals to ensure services provided are in the best interest of the person served.
  • Adhere to Valley's Standards of Conduct and Compliance.
  • Serve on committees as assigned.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings as required.
  • Other work-related duties as assigned.

GRANT RELATED DUTIES:

  • Assess the participant’s education, work experience, skills, needs, abilities, qualification and job interest as it relates to readiness for job referral, classroom training, on-the-job training, and support services.
  • Promote client engagement to sustain an individual in their personal recovery from substance use disorder while they are trained for career employment.
  • Provide timely, culturally competent, and evidence-based recovery services supportive of all pathways to recovery for individuals with SUD.
  • Promote recovery by identifying barriers such as missing/expired birth certificates, social security cards, driver’s license or other identification, and assist the participant in overcoming barriers to employment.
  • Provide supports for life in recovery, building health, home, purpose, and community by improving access to housing, employment or educational services, medical care, mental health counseling and treatment, childcare, transportation, support groups, and other types of services that allow people to move forward in recovery.
  • Provide support for people in long-term SUD recovery whose health regimen includes ongoing medication needs including periodic assessment and overdose prevention activities.
  • Work collaboratively with Transition Agents in each region of the state.
  • Cultivate close relationships with treatment and recovery programs and drug courts in the designated region.
  • Identify and cultivate and connect participants to a myriad of community wide services and supports that are key to meeting a variety of needs.
  • Serve as a personal guide and mentor for people seeking, or already in recovery.
  • Comply with all mandatory requirements for billable services with the Medicaid 1115 waiver.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to perform Essential Duties as outlined below.
  • Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist through the West Virginia Certification Board for Addiction & Prevention Professionals (WVCBAPP).
  • High School diploma or certified high school equivalency.
  • Knowledge of treatment resources including working knowledge of the 12-step recovery fellowships.
  • Experience working with consumers with substance abuse disorders and and/or 2 years personal recovery experience.
  • Ability to comply with all of Valley’s policies and procedures.
  • Ability client’s rights and HIPAA rules & regulations.
  • Ability to comply with Valley & Division departmental safety procedures.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to legally transport clients.
  • Current First-Aid & CPR certificate or ability to complete within 3 months of hire.
  • Possess basic computer skills with ability to use e-mail and document client services into Electronic Medical Record (EMR) platform.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certification in Addictions Counseling.
