Join our team at Valley Country Club, where championship-level golf meets outstanding hospitality! We are seeking a Property Controller to oversee financial, accounting, and administrative operations at our premier facility.

Our club features Colorado's largest grass tee driving range (300 yards), extensive practice facilities, and a thriving golf community led by Head Golf Professional Barry Milstead, former President of the Colorado Section of the PGA. With a dedicated team of PGA and LPGA professionals, we offer a full range of golf programs for all skill levels.

As Property Controller, you will play a key role in managing financial operations, ensuring fiscal responsibility, and supporting the continued success of our club. If you have a passion for finance, leadership, and the golf industry, we want to hear from you!

$130,000-$150,000 bonus potential

Essential Duties:

  • Financial Management: Oversee financial operations, including budgeting, P&L forecasting, financial reporting, and cash flow management/forecasting.
  • Auditing and Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, conduct internal audits, including testing of physical inventory counts, prepare applicable federal, state and local tax filings, and oversee external audits.
  • Budgeting and Analysis: Prepare and monitor budgets, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions to achieve financial goals.
  • Oversight of Accounts Payable/Receivable/Payroll: Manage accounts payable/receivable and payroll functions, ensuring timely processing, reconciliation, collections, and payments. Implement internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.
  • Bank and Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Reconcile all bank statements and balance sheet accounts monthly, including receivables, payables, asset accounts, and wage accounts. Identify and resolve discrepancies promptly, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial policies.
  • Team Leadership: Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate accounting staff and admin assistant; implement training and development programs.
  • Policy Development: Establish and enforce accounting standards, policies, procedures, and controls to safeguard assets and reduce fraud.
  • Vendor and Member Relations: Manage contracts with vendors, oversee member billing, collections, and maintain credit applications.
  • Asset Management: Maintain inventory records, fixed asset ledgers, and depreciation schedules; negotiate insurance policies.
  • Systems Oversight: Monitor and optimize financial management systems, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Reporting: Prepare monthly financial statements, fiscal year-end reports, and other analyses for management, boards, and committees.
  • Support Role: Assist the General Manager in strategic planning, forecasting financial results, resolving operational issues, and managing capital projects.
  • Manages the issuing of membership certificates, recovers certificates from terminating members and conveys to new members; cancels and redeems certificates and makes appropriate collections and refunds
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and four to ten years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in Hospitality Industry a plus. Experience with Clubessential POS/Accounting software or other similar club management program a plus.

Physical Demands:

Frequently sits, uses hands, reaches with arms and hands, talks or hears. Occasionally stands, walks, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crawls or crouches. Occasionally lifts up to 25 pounds.

Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:

  • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to learn and perform as an advanced user of Accounting software
