Valley County
Cascade, ID Full Time
POSTED ON 3/18/2025

The Valley County Sheriff’s Office is recruiting for a 911 Dispatch Specialist to perform important work in providing aid and assistance to its citizens, visitors, and first responders. We are looking for a career-minded individual who is capable and interested in fielding emergency calls and directing appropriate resources in a professional manner.  This is a full-time position with full county benefits.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities

Work in this position varies from quiet and calm, to busy and sometimes stressful – especially during emergency situations. The 911 Dispatch Center is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and as such incumbents in this position will work varying shifts (days, nights, and weekends). Additionally, this position requires heavy phone, radio, and computer use, in addition to sitting for long periods of time.

Prioritization skills and the ability to multi-task are very important as emergency situations can be unpredictable and widely varying.

As 911 Dispatch Specialists are first responders in a public safety role, certification through the Idaho Peace Officer Standards & Training (POST) Academy will be required within one year of hire.  Anyone selected for this position will be enrolled and sent to the POST academy in Meridian to receive specialized training in emergency communications once they have completed their initial on-the-job training.
