Instructional Assistant in Preschool Classroom

Summary

Mentone Kindergarten Readiness Center is a preschool program associated with the Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation. We are located within Mentone Elementary School in Mentone, Indiana. MKRC supports children ages 3-5.

This instructional assistant position would support students with disabilities in the preschool setting.






Duties

This position would support students with disabilities in a preschool setting:

Job Responsibilities include:

• Implement IEP and Behavior Plans under the supervision of the teacher
• Assist with the preparation of student?s instructional materials
• Assists students with health needs and self-help needs, to include but not limited to feeding, toileting, positioning and dressing. This may require operating specialized equipment
• Assists teacher with recording student progress data
• Participates in general and job specific training as determined by the supervision teacher and principal
• Works with individual students and small groups of students in the resource room or in general education classroom setting
• Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as expected to fully licensed teacher
• Supervises testing and make up work as assigned by the teacher
• Works collaboratively with general and special education teachers

Requirements

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Some college training preferred
• Experience working with students with disabilities.
• Experience working with students in Pre-K.
• Ability to communicate effectively before groups of students
