Valley Educational Associates strives to improve the quality of life for adults with developmental disabilities in Western MA since 1982. Valley Educational Associates started with a small, eight-person program and now serves over 85 individuals in three beautiful program facilities throughout Western Massachusetts.

Hours/ Shift: 8:30-4:30PM
Days: Full-time, Monday - Friday position. Weekends off!
Responsibilities:
- Direct care to individuals, including assistance with feeding, toileting, and other personal hygiene needs, as needed
- Working with individuals in supported employment with hands-on training and positive reinforcement
- Teaching classes, lessons, and workshops in our community-based day support program
- Transporting individuals with company or personal vehicles to the community for social and recreational activities
- Working with employers for individual rights and support
- Participating actively as a team member in the daily functions of the program (i.e. cleaning and maintenance of work area and offices, participation in team projects, etc.)
- Accurate record keeping and data collection on a daily basis for the individuals in your charge.
- Utilizing approved, positive behavior management plans to ensure and teach acceptable behaviors in the workplace and community setting
- Providing agency-approved applied non-violence de-escalation and physical restraint techniques, as needed
- Passing medication to participants on a daily basis in compliance with MAP certification
Job Coach Qualifications & Requirements:
- Valid driver's license, vehicle registration, vehicle insurance, and good working order vehicle (no exceptions)
- Resiliency for working with highly physical and mentally stressful situations
- Medication Administration (MAP) certification is required once hired
- Current CPR and first aid certification (or certified after hire)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 1 year's experience working with a developmentally or intellectually disabled or similar population in a vocational or rehabilitation setting and/or relevant background preffered
- Compassion & empathy for people with developmental & intellectual disabilities
- Data record keeping skills
- Creative and thoughtful situation resolution abilities
