Job Summary
Valley Equine is seeking a qualified Veterinary Assistant to join our team for the season. The ideal candidate will have experience in equine care, a solid understanding of farm operations, and the ability to manage and supervise horses in a safe and efficient manner. The role requires hands-on involvement and attention to detail in maintaining accurate records.
This is a TEMPORARY position, the job duration is until August 31, 2025.
Duties
- Provide daily care for horses, including grooming, medicating, and leading them to designated areas.
- Apply safe and effective horse handling techniques.
- Assist the veterinarian with procedures such as uterine lavages and embryo transfers.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of each horse during morning palpations using Wise Option 6 and Microsoft Excel.
Experience
- Experience handling horses of all temperaments
- Strong ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic math skills for record-keeping and inventory management.
- Proficient in administering intramuscular and intravenous injections.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Physical stamina to perform tasks that may require lifting or standing for extended periods.
- Knowledge of basic veterinary procedures or terminology
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Pay: $12.00 - $16.00 per hour
