Job Summary 

The responsibility of the Maintenance & Grounds Technician is to perform routine and an extensive range of work in the repair and general grounds/landscaping, maintenance of buildings, and maintenance of equipment while complying with company policy and safety, work ethics and time restraints. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

MAINTENANCE DUTIES: 

• Plan projects to ensure the highest level of productivity on the job. 

• Is responsible for the general maintenance and repair of all building operations systems, including HVAC, ventilation, and filters to ensure a safe, efficient, and comfortable operation of health centers and pharmacies according to all brand standards. 

• Is required to perform preventative and corrective maintenance as needed.  This will include but is not limited to replacing lights, repairing wallpaper or drywall, caulking, tile grout, faucets, toilets, changing filters, furniture repair, painting, etc.  

• Check work orders daily to follow up on anything that needs parts or anything that may be left from the previous day. 

• Performs repair work given on all service orders and ensures the responsibility of the Maintenance Technician is to perform routine and an extensive range of work in the repair and general grounds/landscaping, maintenance of buildings, and maintenance of equipment while complying with company policy and safety, work ethics and time restraints. 

• Ensures all work is completed in a timely manner. 

• Assists with workstation relocations, office configurations, and office moves. 

• Estimate and secure parts and materials required to complete assignments; order parts and supplies, as necessary. 

• Perform related duties as required. 

• Responsible for maintaining a well-organized work area at all locations. 

• Responsible for working with all deliveries, storing, and delivering, as appropriate. 

GROUNDS/LANDSCAPING DUTIES:  

• Maintain cleanliness of parking lots 

• Perform various ground maintenance functions; mows, trims, edges, fertilizes, aerates, and waters lawns, medians, and areas as needed; weed, prune, mulch, feed, fertilize, and irrigate plants, shrubs, trees, and ground-cover. 

• Prepare soil for planting; seed and re-sod lawn areas; plant, stake, tie, and fertilize a variety of trees; transplant seedlings, shrubs, and trees, as necessary. 

• Perform grounds maintenance chemical application duties; spray pesticides and herbicides; ensure proper application of all materials; ensure equipment is operating properly; perform all duties in compliance with health and safety rules and regulations. 

• Maintain, trim, prune, and remove trees 

• Clean and maintain landscaped areas, paved areas, paths, walkways, and stairways; pick up litter, garbage, and debris from landscaped areas; trap and dispose of rodents as necessary; remove graffiti from structures and facilities. 

• Clean and maintain storm drains, drainage ditches, creeks, and culverts including removing debris and trash. 

• Operate a variety of hand and power tools, such as hand mowers, edgers, blowers, hedge trimmers, long-handled clippers, and similar tools, weed eaters, chain saws, rakes, shovels, hoes, brooms, and other maintenance tools. 

• Operate a variety of light-duty motorized equipment in the maintenance of landscaped areas. 

• Perform preventative maintenance to equipment, and tools and make minor adjustments and repairs; report the need for major repairs and maintenance. 

• Inspect assigned areas; respond to relevant emergencies; correct or report safety hazards. 

• Respond to health center inquiries and requests in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner with direct communication with your supervisor. 

• Prepare and maintain a variety of records and reports related to work performed. 

• Estimate and secure parts and materials required to complete assignments, order parts and supplies, as necessary. 

• Read maps and interpret plans, specifications, and maintenance manuals. 

• Observe safe work methods and safety precautions related to all work sites. 

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Experience in a general maintenance position with skill and experience in electrical, carpentry, machine, drywall, plumbing, landscaping, etc.  

• Knowledge in building systems and general office repair services. 

• Experience with operations, services, and activities of a landscape maintenance program 

• Proficient in methods and techniques of planting, pruning, and maintaining lawns, ground covers, plants, shrubs, hedges, and trees. 

• Proficient in shop mathematics. 

• Proficient in basic principles and practices of record keeping. 

• Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices. 

ABILITY TO:  

• Travel will be required to all locations. Must have reliable transportation.  Mileage will be reimbursed.  

• Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting and moving up to 50 pounds (for example, lifting and moving sand, seed, tools, etc.) 

• Perform a variety of landscape and maintenance work in open spaces, trails, and other landscaped areas. 

• Use and operate vehicles and equipment, hand tools, and power tools and equipment required for the work safely and efficiently. 

• Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures including safety around work areas in high traffic. 

• Take coaching, instruction, and feedback with a cooperative and positive attitude. 

• Read maps and interpret plans, specifications, and maintenance manuals. 

• Maintain records including time, material, and equipment use records. 

• Exercise independent judgment and initiative without close supervision. 

• Understand and follow oral and written instructions. 

• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and occasionally in writing. 

• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including the ability to interact effectively and courteously with the public, coworkers, and vendors. 

• GED (General Education Degree) or equivalent 
• Two years of maintenance and grounds experience  
• Valid and clear driver’s license
