Human Resources Assistant
Valley Health Partners, Allentown, PA
The Human Resources Assistant will be responsible for performing a variety of administrative support of HR related functions. These functions include, but are not limited to, assisting with employee record maintenance, complete onboarding of new hires, employment verification tasks, and special projects as assigned.
Minimum qualifications:
- HS diploma or equivalent.
- Experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point).
- Excellent attention to detail and customer services skills.
- Must be capable of handling highly confidential information.
Preferred qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in related field. One or more years of healthcare/human resources experience. Basic knowledge of employment law.
Skills Required:
- Excellent PC skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point) processing skills.
- Excellent analytical, spelling and grammar skills, with attention to detail and accuracy, required.
- Excellent customer service, written, listening, and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Must be capable of handling highly confidential information.
- Must be able to work under constant deadlines and able to handle multiple duties and follow through on issues and projects.
- Demonstrated reasoning ability and good independent judgment.
- Must consistently display professionalism and excellent customer service skills by providing cooperative and courteous service to all customers, patients, families, visitors, physicians, and colleagues.
Essential Functions:
Performs day-to-day administrative support to the Human Resources department of Valley Health Partners Community Health Center
- Compile and process employee documentation and records, and keep the employee database up to date
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records
- Assist in ad-hoc human resources projects.
- Foster positive employee relations.
- May assist with preparation of human resource reports such as attendance, new hire, and turnover reports.
- Prepares purchase orders for human resource office.
Provides support throughout all onboarding procedures and processes.
- Helps with new-hire procedures including communicating with Employee Health Services, verifying I-9s during New Hire Orientation, creating new employee files, creating identification badges, and ensuring all necessary paperwork is properly filled out and submitted to appropriate persons.
- Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications
- Performs customer service functions by acting as a liaison during onboarding
- Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files
- Scans or virtually print HR documents into employees' files in a timely and accurate manner.

- Organizes, maintains, and updates employee Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) information as needed.
Coordinates VHPCHC Student Services and Volunteer Services programs. Continuously develops, promotes and maintains successful implementation of both programs throughout VHPCHC.
- Serves as a liaison between VHPCHC and school officials answering questions pertaining to Student Services program. Initiates and tracks affiliations agreements and has them approved by legal counsel as appropriate
- Tracks all incoming student applications, as well as the requirements for those interested in educational experiences, and conducts proper placement of students in the most appropriate clinic(s)/department(s).
Performs other related duties as assigned.
