Job Description
The Guest Services Ambassador welcomes all patients, employees, and guests to Winchester Medical Center (WMC) and helps transition patients into their stream of care. The Guest Services Ambassador is often the first person encountered at WMC and sets the stage and tone for patient care and safety. This position helps transition patients into their stream of care by providing warm greetings, general information, wayfinding assistance, and wheelchair services, with exceptional customer service.
In order to be successful in this position, as well as to find it professionally and personally rewarding, the Guest Services Ambassador must possess the traits of high-energy and compassion, as well as an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Greets patients, staff, and guests in a warm and friendly manner and provides excellent customer service.
Ensures all guests check-in as appropriate.
Provides intervention and appropriate de-escalation skills when there is a misunderstanding or upset between patient, visitor and/or staff.
Provides relief for guest service information desk staff.
Assists patients and guests with transfer from a wheelchair to a vehicle and vice versa.
Assists and/or escorts patients and visitors up and down stairs.
Provides wayfinding assistance to patients, guests, and employees.
Cleans and disinfects wheelchairs as needed.
Education
High School Diploma or GED required
Experience
Minimum one year of customer service, security, or related experience required
Certification & Licensures
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification required within 60 days of hire
Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certification required within 60 days of hire
Qualifications
Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills required.
Ability to professionally and compassionately interact with patients and visitors according to their unique needs and professionally navigate potentially stressful circumstances required.
Excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to proactively anticipate patient, visitor, and employee needs and take appropriate action within the Ambassador role to assist in a professional and respectful manner required.
Ability to successfully complete required security, customer service, and patient transfer training required.
