Job Description
The Respiratory Therapist plays a vital role in providing patient care across various age groups, including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and the geriatric population. This professional administers therapy modalities as per physician orders or protocols, conducts assessments, educates patients, and evaluates the effectiveness of therapy.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Administer all prescribed therapy modalities to patients.
- Perform non-invasive SpO2 monitoring through pulse oximetry via overnight studies, exercise, continuous, and spot checks.
- Perform airway clearance therapy.
- Operate and maintain basic functions in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Conduct regular assessment rounds.
- Prepare and set up equipment for use.
- Perform arterial puncture and blood gas analysis.
- Initiate, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilators.
- Set up and manage high flow oxygen therapy.
- Respond to emergency situations and participate in rapid response teams.
- Assist with therapeutic bronchoscopies and intubations as needed.
