Job Description
The Senior Director of Surgical Services has oversight for coordination and leadership of surgical services across Valley Health System (VHS), including direct oversight for Winchester Medical Center and matrixed oversight for all additional hospital surgical services. Specific areas of responsibility include operating rooms, SPD, endoscopy, anesthesia, PACU, preadmission testing, and scheduling, as well as administratively supporting medical staff committees and initiatives. The Senior Director has oversight of all typical leadership responsibilities such as budget, financial outcomes, volume, employee engagement, patient engagement and direct oversight of areas listed with tight, matrixed relationship to facility presidents to advance services, align with medical staff, and achieve facility goals. The Senior Director also serves in a consultative capacity to support all surgical JV's.
Responsibilities and Duties
Develops vision and strategy to support growth and efficiency of surgical services across VHS, working with hospital presidents and other leaders across the organization.
Standardize policies, processes, and procedures across VHS and centralize support functions where appropriate.
Supports program development to enhance surgical capabilities and new procedures.
Oversight for meeting compliance and regulatory standards of all surgical services.
Creates and advance a culture of high reliability and transparency.
Ensures engaged teams across the organization.
Responsible for overall patient engagement within surgical services.
Participates in appropriate surgical committees across the organization.
Establishes performance standards in collaboration with leadership and medical staff to drive efficiency and performance of services.
Education
MBA, MHA or MSN is required
Experience
Certification & Licensure
RN state licensure is required
Qualifications
Strong content knowledge of medical disciplines including surgical services.
Ability to lead and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
Strong financial skills and business development skills including creating partnerships through a variety of financial and incentive models.
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with varying levels of personnel within and outside VHS.
