Valley Hi Nursing Home is looking for their next Memory Care Unit Director to run their newly constructed addition to their facility.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Memory Care Unit Director coordinates the resident programming and directs, evaluates, and supervises all resident care and staff who work on the memory care unit. Initiates corrective action as required. Participates in overall facility quality goals and metrics. Is focused on enhancing and coordinating the resident care programming and quality of life on the memory care unit. Develops relationships with residents, families, and the community to enhance services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and supervise resident programming while maintaining a therapeutic environment for residents with Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
- Oversee resident clinical programs to ensure resident physical and psycho-social needs are being met and standards are followed.
- Assess resident needs and make recommendations as necessary for special programs.
- Assist with the coordination of memory care unit staff scheduling, assignments and monitor the quality of care.
- Conduct ongoing staff development and training, including orientation of staff to work the unit.
- Assess cognitive and physical status of individuals and complete assessment forms and other required reports to determine and coordinate required services.
- Evaluate resident care as needed to determine orders and care plan approaches are in place and followed for resident needs, family involvement, and the physician’s plan of care for the resident.
- Participate in resident Care Plan meetings.
- Follow and observe all infection control policies and procedures.
- Assess resident response to medication and treatments and make appropriate recommendations for actions to be implemented.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education and Experience:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a health-related field and/or be a registered nurse
- At least 1 year of experience working with persons with Alzheimer’s and other dementias
- Documented coursework in dementia care and ability-centered care
Licenses and Certifications:
- Licensed Registered Nurse
- CPR Certification
