Outreach/Industry Specialist
JOB DESCRIPTION
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Outreach/Industry Specialist is responsible for developing and executing outreach programs to help the organization achieve its goals. The Outreach/Industry Specialist works with local industry leaders, providers of health and wellness services, schools, government agencies, low-income housing providers, local businesses, and a wide variety of community non-profit organizations to reach families and individuals with our message. Plans and implements a closely associated set of program initiatives for an identified client-oriented operational entity of VIDA. Participates in the generation of program resources and in the design and development of program operating goals, objectives, and protocols. Serves as primary point of both internal and external representation and liaison with respect to program implementation and operational matters, and provides technical/professional and programmatic guidance, consultation, and support to participants as appropriate.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Workforce and Economic Development.
DUTIES PERFORMED:
· Conducting research on community needs, trends, and issues to identify potential outreach projects
· Promoting awareness of the organization’s services, activities, or events through various methods such as distributing flyers, creating advertisements, setting up displays, or writing press releases
· Coordinating with other organizations that share similar goals or interests in order to collaborate on projects or events
· Organizing community events such as festivals, workshops, or performances to educate the public about topics related to a specific cause or organization
· Establishing relationships with local businesses, media outlets, and government agencies to promote awareness of the organization’s mission and objectives
· Conducting community surveys to identify needs and develop programs to address them
· Recruiting volunteers for ongoing programs
· Developing and implementing outreach programs such as fairs or community events
· Recording data about community needs, participation rates, and outcomes of events and programs
· Reach out to low- income residents via local institutions of higher education, government agencies, health, and community partners
· Serves as the primary liaison with internal and external applicants on all matters relating to program activities, represents VIDA with respect to program activities on a local and regional basis.
· Carry out other communications, marketing, and outreach related duties as necessary
· Maintain and build partnerships and coalitions with other government agencies, organizations, and businesses
· Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree preferred. A degree in public relations, communications or marketing is preferred. Two years customer service experience required. Strong oral communication skills, time management, networking, marketing, and public speaking required. Must enjoy working with the public and have a strong initiative to work independently. Must have reliable transportation and proof of insurance. Intermediate experience in Microsoft Office Suite, Windows applications, Internet, and email required. Some evenings and weekends required. High professional standards required. Spanish required.
