VALLEY MEATS DIRECTOR OPERATIONS JOB DESCRIPTION

Company Summary

Valley Meats LLC is a $35 million dollar revenue further processor of center of the plate and portion controlled meat products. The Company’s customer base includes broadline institutional foodservice distributors, specialty meat focused distributors, and regional and super regional end user operators. Valley Meats has a very broad product line including fresh and frozen hamburgers and bulk ground beef products, value added products including breaded, seasoned and marinated products. A majority of the products produced by pounds are hamburger patties split approximately equally between fresh and frozen hamburgers. Approximately 50% of the Company’s sales by pounds are of its branded J&B Meats product line with the other 50% being customer formulated products. The Company has a Formax 26 frozen patty line with a Northfield spiral freezer, two fresh ground beef lines, A fresh and frozen bulk ground beef line, a specialty products line with a Frigo spiral freezer, and a cut products operation. The Company is located in Coal Valley, Illinois which is contiguous to Moline, Illinois the center of the Quad Cities area of Illinois/Iowa which is located on the Mississippi River and has a metropolitan population of approximately 400,000 people. Valley Meats has a single processing facility.

· Job Description/Qualifications

· Position Scope: The Vice President-Operations will direct and coordinate all aspects of the plant operations to ensure production of the highest quality products meeting Company performance and safety standards, customer specifications and delivery requirements. Areas of responsibility will include:

· Production

· Performance and productivity measurements against agreed standards

· Maintenance

· Sanitation

· Employee training and development

· Food safety, best production practices and regulatory compliance including implementing and maintaining appropriate food safety certifications

· Interface with Sales, Customer Service and Quality to ensure customer satisfaction, to develop or customize products, etc.

Director of Operations will report to the President. Six production supervisors, and maintenance supervisor

Will report to Director of Operations.

Qualifications/Requirements will include:

· Bachelor’s degree with a preference for a food science degree

· Minimum of 8 years’ experience in protein processing environments with a preference for beef processing experience with 2 years in a lead management role

· Knowledge of the workings of a meat facility complying with USDA/OSHA standards as well as an understanding of HAACP plans and food safety certification requirements

· Experience in processing of diverse array of protein products with experience in both long run and short run processing

· Leadership skills in directing, motivating and training employees

· Experience in lean manufacturing/continuous improvement concepts and culture

· A driver for accountability and the achievement of results, proactive seeker of continuous improvement and best practices

· Excellent understanding of financial drivers

Pay: $95,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year Bonus
