Valley Medical Center, in partnership with Pinnacle Medical Wellness, is recruiting an Exercise Specialist to join our growing team of multidisciplinary providers. The Lifestyle Medicine and Fitness Center at UW/Valley Medical Center specializes in the comprehensive management of health and wellness through nutrition, exercise and behavior modification. As a part of a progressive healthcare organization, this is a unique opportunity to improve health and wellness initiatives across the spectrum of care.
The ideal candidate for this position is experienced in exercise prescription and fitness testing for a wide spectrum of patient populations including chronic disease management, health optimization and weight management. Experience in health coaching and/or corporate wellness is a plus.
Job responsibilities include 1:1, group and class exercise instruction, wellness workshop facilitation and teaching, participation in fitness facility maintenance, and involvement in care coordination as part of a multidisciplinary team. Opportunity to collaborate with clinical specialists in lifestyle medicine including physical therapy, nutrition, massage and fitness to offer comprehensive wellness services, chronic disease management and illness prevention.

PREREQUISITES:
1. Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Nutrition/Dietetics or a related field. High preference given to candidates with dual credentialing in Exercise and Nutrition fields.
2. Preferred 2 years experience in exercise prescription, fitness center management or medical fitness services.
3. Advanced certification in exercise such as ACSM Clinical Exercise Specialist, CSCS, Wellcoach certification or similar approved credential required within 90 days of hire.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Advanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology, movement assessment, exercise prescription for populations in good health and with chronic disease processes.
2. Demonstrates good teaching skills.
3. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal communication skills with a diverse population
of age groups and conditions.
4. CPR certification or eligible to take within 60 days of hire.
5. Strong computer skills and ability to learn new computer programs.
6. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and demands ensuring a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
7. Willingness to embrace and seize opportunities provided by change.
8. Proficient at teaching gym and water aerobic classes to a diverse population of age, ethnic, and physically challenged groups.
9. Experience in performing fitness evaluations and prescriptions for people with special needs.
