Job Overview: The Specimen Collection Technician has responsibilities and duties related to patient care in a laboratory setting. The individual must display behaviors that comply with the clinic's strict privacy and confidentiality of patient and clinic information, as well as communicate effectively with physicians, staff, and patients. The UA Collector must demonstrate competency in all skills related to the performance of their job description.
Primary Responsibility:

- Specimen collection, including urine samples, at various sites with VMW partners
- Preform lab duties including but not limited to: handling specimens, urine rapid drug testing, and shipping specimens
- Label creation and data entry into LIMS and/or EMR system
- Verify patient identity and obtain patient demographics
- Complete lab requisition forms
- Appropriately label and ship specimens
- Confirms and clarifies physician and lab orders
- The UA Collector reports to the Clinic Coordinator.
- Communicate with patients through the clinics Patient Portal/Klara.
- Performs related and delegated tasks,
- Works with health care team to assure efficient patient flow and clinical operation.
