The Data Engineer plays a critical role within the Service Planning and Scheduling Department by performing data analysis to support planning, development, and operational decisions. The Data Engineer applies statistical techniques, creates data visualizations, and collaborates across teams to design data-driven solutions. By ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data, this role drives meaningful outcomes that improve decision-making processes and operational efficiency.

- Three (3) years applicable professional experience performing data analysis and database scripting in SQL, Python, Arcade, or other programming languages

- Conduct spatial analyses and generate detailed reports to support planning, development, and operational activities.
- Create and manage GIS data layers, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and relevance for internal use and external stakeholders.
- Develop scripts and tools using Python, T-SQL, Arcade, or other programming languages to automate geoprocessing tasks and improve workflows.
- Collaborate with teams across the organization to design and implement GIS applications that enhance data visualization and accessibility.
- Prepare high-quality maps and visualizations using ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and related tools.
- Gather, process, and analyze ancillary datasets acquired through partnerships or data-sharing agreements.
- Provide technical expertise and support for GIS-related questions, including troubleshooting data and software issues.
- Contribute to the development and standardization of geospatial data protocols and workflows.
- Serve as a liaison with external agencies to ensure alignment on GIS standards and collaborative projects.
- Participate in identifying and communicating solutions to geospatial challenges or inefficiencies.
Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of:
- Geospatial theories, tools, and techniques for analyzing and visualizing spatial data.
- Scripting languages such as Python and Arcade for geoprocessing automation.
- Database management principles, including SQL and geodatabase design.
- Principles of cartography and effective data visualization.
- Basic principles of project management.
Skills in:
- Performing complex geospatial analyses and synthesizing results into actionable insights.
- Automating repetitive tasks and creating user-friendly tools.
- Designing visually compelling maps and dashboards tailored to stakeholder needs.
- Communicating technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Managing multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Building collaborative relationships with internal teams and external partners.
Physical Demands:
Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment, and travel locally between agency sites to attend meetings; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
