The Superintendent, Bus Transportation directs all transportation related work and activities for the assigned division. Ensures and maintains optimal service performance and identifies and resolves service issues. The Superintendent implements and delivers positive outcomes pertaining to the effectiveness of all bus transportation service delivery and assigned contractor(s) with the Tempe, Mesa, West Valley, or Paratransit facilities. - Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field
- 4 years applicable professional experience in transportation operations including experience monitoring fixed-route transit contracts
- Demonstrated knowledge of bus public transportation procedures and service requirements, emergency and safety procedures, and service equipment
- Intermediated level transit software experience; Swiftly experience highly desired
- Manage the daily operations of bus transportation service delivery functions to ensure all services are being operated on-schedule, on-time garage departures, and customers are being provided with safe, reliable, and courteous service.
- Monitor and evaluate contractor performance; identify and resolve a variety of complex transportation issues; make recommendations based on data while coordinating with contractor(s) to develop plans for service improvement.
- Provide contract compliance oversight, monitor bus service delivery key performance indicators (KPIs); including, but not limited to, bus on-time performance, compliance with contract provisions to ensure effective and efficient fixed-route transit services, track, comply, compile, analyze, and prepare reports relatives to service provider performance.
- Oversee the daily division contract and maintain close communication with designated contract staff of other service operations sectors necessary to ensure a safe and efficient bus service operations.
- Perform field service monitoring; monitors complaints and contractor responses; and responds to member city inquiries.
- Monitor contract budgets and prepare related reports.
- Serve as a liaison with internal departments, public agencies, external organizations, the general public, and/or other interested parties.

Work Hours/Work Environment:
On occasion the incumbent in this position must be available to work weekends, odd and unusual hours and extended shifts; may be called back into the office in emergency situations.
