SUMMARY 

The Outreach and Engagement Coordinator, working under the direction of the Executive Director or her designee shall coordinate VMRC’s strategic and focused outreach and engagement in VMRC’s catchment which includes Amador, Calaveras, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Tuolumne Counties. 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: The majority of duties are to be performed in the office and some may be conducted remotely. Job duties require the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time, to rearrange meeting room furniture to configure for meetings, and to operate office machines requiring manual dexterity and repetitive key entry. Job responsibilities require the ability to read and comprehend large amounts of written material in English, use the telephone, and communicate via electronic mail (email).  Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.  The Outreach and Engagement Coordinator must be able to travel locally and out-of-town, including occasional overnight stays. The position requires some duties that may occur in the evening or on weekends.  Flexing of work hours can be done to accommodate this requirement. 

Job Description 

VMRC is recruiting for a person who is energetic, collaborative, and organized to serve as VMRC’s Outreach and Engagement Coordinator. VMRC would like this person to join our team and help us build a diverse and thriving community of individuals served, family members, community partners, service providers, local agencies and regional center staff. 

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing creative strategies that increase engagement and meaningful connections within our regional center community. The successful candidate will also have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the confidence to manage a variety of community partnerships and engagements to build relationships of trust and successful outcomes.

Essential Duties 

The Outreach and Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for expanding VMRC’s engagement and outreach throughout the service area. This individual will develop, strategize, coordinate, and/or implement community-based engagements with diverse community partners and organizations.  

  • Develop, plan, coordinate and participate in community engagement activities designed to inform, educate, support, and collaborate with individuals served, individuals not served, families, and community partners.  
  • Participate and attend community events. 
  • Maintain documentation of regional center participation and support for all outreach and engagement activities reported to Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and other organizations. 
  • Develop and create outreach information and resources in culturally and linguistically competent formats to be distributed. 
  • Identify, build and nurture strategic partnerships with local community agencies and various community partners to help promote and support VMRC’s mission, vision, and values. 
  • Support the planning, organization, and implementation of special events, including recruitment and supervision of volunteers, and day-of-event management.  
  • Maintains social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter (X), Instagram, YouTube, Linked In, as well as any future accounts, in partnership with the agency social media team. 
  • Maintains VMRC’s Screen fluence subscription and content for the monitors in the lobbies of all offices. 
  • Participates in content to be placed on VMRC’s website, www.vmrc.net, as well as the VMRC Weekly Newsletter. 
  • Supports agency events coordinated by other employees of VMRC 
  • Assisting, participating, and supporting updates to the VMRC website, VMRC social media, and VMRC Newsletter.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications


Education/Experience 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience is required.   
  • Experience working with community members from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. 
  • Understanding community organization and development of community networks for achievement of desired outcomes. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing, and via electronic networks, including excellent creative writing skills, with individuals and groups from a variety of educational and socioeconomic backgrounds. 
  • Working knowledge of developmental disabilities, family support systems, and community-based resources to address special needs of clients. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary team members, including individuals with developmental disabilities, family members, service providers, and staff. 
  • Current California driver’s license and State-required insurance required when using personal vehicle on Center business and a driving record acceptable to the organization and/or its insurance carrier. 
  • Capacity to be flexible and work in a changing environment. 
  • Computer skills are sufficient to meet production demands of the job, including Microsoft Office and software for public information and learning management. 
  • Availability/flexibility to work varied hours including occasional evenings, nights, and weekends. 
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures of the Regional Center. 

Knowledge And/or Abilities:  

  • Knowledge of individuals with developmental disabilities 
  • Knowledge of regional center programs 
  • Knowledge of culturally diverse communities  
  • Effective communication techniques 
  • Ability to plan and schedule your own work 
  • Formulates and implements project goals and objectives 
  • Organizes meetings and events 
  • Effective oral presentation skills 
  • Effective writing skills in English and a language other than English is required (Spanish/Asian Languages) 
  • Interact with others from a wide variety of cultural and social backgrounds 
  • Knowledge of word processing software (Microsoft Word) is required 
  • Working knowledge of Excel and Power Point Presentations 

     COMPENSATION: $30.15 - $41.52 per hour
